Lee Perry & The Upsetters — The Return of Sound System Scratch

Mick Sleeper, Apr 12, 2011
Return Of Sound System Scratch is arguably a stronger collection than Sound System Scratch. Sound quality is better throughout (although audiophiles always seem to find something to moan about when it comes to reggae) and the choice of material – from mind bending dub plates to deep roots tunes, most of which are previously unreleased – is outstanding. Return Of Sound System Scratch proves that we're not scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to Lee Perry releases, because Scratch had a very deep barrel.

Family Man has a knack of turning out high quality roots instrumentals. This is one of them. B side is good too.

Drum machine led roots. There is a strong Lee Perry influence on this one. Not quite as over the top as Scratchs productions but never the less a good tune.
