Information

Probably the best known Jamaican rhythm section ever Sly and Robbie need little by way of introduction. Their work has already graced many previous Pressure Sounds releases.

'Unmetered Taxi' concentrates on their own Taxi productions... a stunning catalogue... and this release showcases the finest of the label's early output. The Wailing Souls, Black Uhuru, The Viceroys, The Tamlins and Dennis Brown are all gathered together here alongside a super rare dub plate and some hard to find versions.

This is a stunning compilation re-mastered and spread over four sides of vinyl (or a CD) lovingly assembled with a beautiful booklet with photographs from the early eighties by Beth Lesser, sleevenotes from Harry Hawke and artwork by Jeb Nichols.
Twenty two tracks of pure niceness for your enjoyment!

Umetered Taxi

Denver Hamilton, Nov 07, 2004
Scintillating tight drums with a driving and heavy bassline throughout . Robbie's sparse laid back bass notes are extremely heavy , trust me , and you will feel this one vibrating throughout your heart ,chest and your entire body.
I love the snare drums and that 'whipping' type sound that Sly enages on Jimmy Riley's 'love and devotion', that Sly engages on Baltimore.
Another absolute favourite of mine is the well versioned 'Unmetered Taxi' (peanut vendor rhythm) . Certainly, one of the tightest reggae rhythms I have ever come across . Check out the bouncy repetitive Bassline, complimented by Sly's pounding bass drums.
