Information

'Dancehall Techniques' collects a cross section of the super rare and the most sought after of Winston Riley's output from this period. These records caused dancehall mayhem on their original release!

The album kicks off with the brilliant 'Bad Boys' by Courtney Melody who recently re-cut the track with Rodney P/Shy FX and introduced it to a whole new generation of young fans. It has now become an underground classic for the second time but the original is here on CD for the very first time. Gregory Isaacs' duet with Tiger on 'Hic Up' is a nice blend of the old and the new and 'Ring the Alarm Quick' is possibly the most popular version of the infamous 'Stalag' Rhythm.

Some of the biggest names in reggae recorded for Winston Riley and here we present eighteen tracks of outstanding quality as well as some super rare 'dub plate style' intros. These were dropped in Kingston sound clashes and this is the first time they will have been heard outside of the Kingston dancehall circuit.

To complement the music we have a beautifully put together CD and double vinyl, lovingly re-mastered and packaged. This release is possibly our strongest re-issue on the Maximum Pressure label to date.

dancehall's singers

Wicked! Old school selections, massive hits, and great vibes. Thank you Frenchy, we appreciate your selection in France too.
They say singers can\'t sing on dancehall riddims...but listen carefully to Michael Prophet\'s John Boops, Pliers or Grregory Isaac, and you will be sure that dancehal isn\'t only a deejay thing.
