Information

'Get Carter', the classic 1971 British gangster movie, stars Michael Caine in a career defining role as a London gangster out for revenge in the grim North.

The film, directed by Mike Hodges and set in the derelict urban scenery of Newcastle, could easily have come with a period glam rock soundtrack but it sounded so much better with cool jazz... and there is some very classy, cool and slightly edgy jazz here to evoke and echo the film's gritty imagery.*180 grams audiophile vinyl

  • Don Prendes - Ska -Ba- Doo- Be-DayDon Prendes Ska -Ba- Doo- Be-Day

Don Prendes sang with Pablo Moses in the 'Canaries' which eventually morphed into Pablo Moses harmony singers for the classic Revolutionary Dream album. He cut a few sides for himself and on this production by the Chung brothers he takes the lead vocal. Top notch roots.

  • Horace Andy - Children of IsraelHorace AndyChildren of Israel

An excellent double header from Horace Andy and Augustus Pablo. Both sides are on the 'Children of Israel' rhythm and date from around 1975. Horace Andys vocals for Leonard Chin were always superb and 'Children of Israel' is no exception.

A Fragile twisted record that sounds like it was squeezed through a very high frequency mangler before being committed to vinyl! They truly do not make records like this anymore.
