Look Over Your Shoulder

Information

Derrick Harriott excels at this kind of melodic Philly tinged reggae. He does it better than most due to his obvious empathy with US Soul from the period. The b side in a similar vein but maybe in a more obvious lover rock styleee. Nice without being earth shattering.

  • The Cavaliers - Tribute to SkaThe Cavaliers Tribute to Ska

Punchy uptempo ska on the A side. Reflections on the folk tale of Bedward the preacher on the flipside. Excellent toons from the Cavaliers with Johnny Moore on trumpet.

  • The Cavaliers - Blue SkaThe CavaliersBlue Ska

Top draw ska from Federal records. Very ably brought to us by Dub Store in Japan. The A side in particular is lovely thumping ska. Slightly less rambunctious than the Studio One offerings of the same period. But really good stuff never the less. Grab these pearls while they are available.

More unreleased Jammys dub plates. Flat as a pancake tone wise but still has a charm. Rocks on the b side as well.

  • King Long ( Actually Nitty Gritty) - Brown In The RingKing Long ( Actually Nitty Gritty)Brown In The Ring

Nitty Gritty on a slow digital ting. Very nice and the b side is pretty good too. Like all good singers Nitty Gritty has the ability to transport the most mundane lyrics into meaningful poetry.
