Pressure Sounds have two new 45s due for release on 16th November 2009. All four sides are early productions from the legendary Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee and all are prime examples of what made rock steady so popular in the late sixties and serve to demonstrate why this music still remains totally captivating over forty years down the line.

‘She’s So Fine’ is a beautiful vocal from the multi-talented Glen Adams. Seriously in demand on the revival circuit this rare version comes complete with added harmonies missing from the better known version of the song. Coupled here with a sympathetic instrumental cut of the same rhythm entitled ‘Soul Survivor’ by sax man supreme Val Bennett and resplendent on a facsimile black and yellow Lee’s label straight out of the sixties.

The second release is a certifiable classic from one of Jamaica’s greatest ever singers Keith ‘Slim’ Smith lead vocalist with the Uniques vocal harmony group. ‘Lets Get Together’ is a slow, soulful slice of rock steady reminiscent of R&B singer Sam Cooke at his most moving where the late, lamented Slim wrests every last drop of emotion from a heart rending song. Slim is backed here by The Webber Sisters jaunty ‘My World’, an upbeat obscurity, on a fabulous facsimile black and orange Carifta label.

Real cool. You can’t help but love these two rare but very groovy forty fives.
